Hewetson and Johnson are a trusted provider of estate management services to owners across Yorkshire and Cumbria. We advise a wide range of clients, from traditional family estates to those new to land ownership. Given that experience, we believe it is key to understand exactly what each client wants to achieve from their property. Furthermore, we recognise that each client and their estate are different and one size does not fit all.
We offer strategic advice, either on an ad hoc basis or as retained partner, depending on your preference. We also provide a full estate management service, offering day to day management. For example, this might cover rural diversification, woodland management or residential tenancies.
Our estate management services include:
Client Accounting
We will produce budget P&L cashflows and capital expenditure forecasts, provide payroll services, undertake rent collection and debtor management and submit VAT returns. We offer a full book-keeping service to assist in the preparation of the final accounts.
Landlord & Tenant
We understand the importance of maintaining a good relationship between landlord and tenant across the agricultural, commercial and residential sectors. This understanding forms the basis of our approach in dealing with matters such as Heads of Terms negotiations, rent reviews, compensation claims and end of tenancy issues.
Forestry Management
Our experience covers the management of commercial forestry and amenity woodlands and we will advise you on topics ranging from valuation, timber sales, grant schemes, planting and maintenance, sporting rights and purchases and sales.
Staff Recruitment
In addition to appraising existing staff, we will assist you in recruiting new employees, writing job specifications, assisting in the interview and selection process and agreeing remuneration packages and contract terms.
Estate Structures, Tax & Strategic Planning
We provide sound practical advice in conjunction with other professional advisors to ensure our client’s businesses are structured as efficiently as possible, be it with regards to the management structure or tax issues, ranging from VAT to capital taxes.
Diversification & Renewable Energy
We are able to undertake a diversification audit and identify the alternative uses that will fit within your vision of the property, as well as provide a return on your investment. We will work with other stakeholders to deliver your scheme which might include planning, feasibility assessments, and project management.
Sporting
We will provide practical advice to upland and lowland sporting estates to help implement your ambitions for the sporting enterprise. This will include drawing up management plans, producing P&L budgets, management of staff, liaising with tenant farmers, third party bodies and Government departments and advising on appropriate grant schemes.
